HiLine Homes makes beeline to downtown

Company building its peninsula presence in new Sequim storefront

In real estate, the key is always “location, location, location.”

Maybe that’s true in home construction as well.

Rob Owens, the local “home consultant” for HiLine Homes, said the company recently moved its offices from U.S. Highway 101 to downtown Sequim (149 W. Washington St.) to provide greater visibility for the company’s services.

HiLine opened its first

Clallam office at mid-year in 2012, Owens said, because they felt the peninsula is an area where they need to have a bigger presence.

The company already is doing well, with new home construction now under contract in Clallam and Mason counties and in Kingston.

That means new local subcontractors will be hired, Owens said.

A little background

HiLine Homes has a long and expansive history, with more than 5,000 homes built in Washington and Oregon in the past 20 years.

They offer more than three dozen home plans, Owens said, at a wide range of prices. A new home following a basic plan “on your lot” can range from $60,000 to $135,000.

Owens, who has long experience in building homes, said he looked long and hard at the company before taking the job.

“They build a hell of a house,” he said, adding they “have one of the best warranties in the business.”

He’s particularly proud of the company’s “guaranteed build time.” Once the foundation work begins the company promises to substantially complete the house in 140 days or they will begin paying $100 for every day it’s late — up to $2,000.

The company also can provide a shell or “supershell” structure, allowing

homebuyers to “pick up the hammer” and complete much of the interior work on their own.
