Five Olympic Medical Center employees are included in management changes that occurred in the first five months of 2016.
Linda Bryant, RN; Robin Burse, RN; Leonard Anderson and Rhonda Bowen each earned promotions in their respective areas. Deby King completed her project management role of Epic and transitioned to direct another clinical service area.
Director of Surgical Services
Most recently, Linda Bryant, RN, accepted Olympic Medical’s offer to become director of Surgical Services. She replaces long-time director Mary Romstadt, RN, who retired early this year.
Bryant has both frontline and management surgical services experience, and has worked at Olympic Medical for 10 years. She also holds a master’s degree in business administration.
With additional surgeons on medical staff and an expansion of available surgical procedures, this is a growth year for the surgery unit.
Director of Medical/Surgical/Pediatrics
Robin Burse, RN, was named director of the medical/surgical/pediatrics unit in late April after long-time director Tanya Rutherford moved. A 12-year employee, Burse spent the past four years as the supervisor of the unit.
The department has 94 staff members and manages 39 patient beds at the hospital. Burse, who holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, is enrolled in a Master of Nursing program.
Director of Laboratory
Deby King transitioned from coordinating Olympic Medical’s implementation and stabilization of the Epic electronic health record system to directing laboratory services at Olympic Medical. Previous to the Epic implementation, King successfully directed the diagnostic imaging services department. Debbie Nelson, laboratory manager, continues to offer day-to-day management of the clinical lab services at the hospital.
Heart Center Manager
Leonard Anderson, a nine-year employee in the cardiac services area, earned a promotion to Heart Center manager in April. Anderson developed and implemented the Olympic Medical Heart Center pulmonary rehabilitation program and has held the positions of pulmonary rehabilitation coordinator, exercise specialist, and most recently chronic disease programs coordinator.
Anderson holds a master’s degree in physical education from The Citadel in North Carolina and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oregon, where his education focused on physical education with an emphasis in fitness and lifestyle management.
Director of Safety Program
Rhonda Bowen was promoted to director of Olympic Medical’s Safety Program — a new position — in late March. Bowen continues to manage medical staff services and the infection prevention and control program, and is now responsible for supporting and coordinating the continued development and ongoing improvements of the institution’s clinical safety efforts.
Bowen holds a bachelor of health sciences with a minor in health literacy and is a certified professional in patient safety and health care quality. She also holds a number of certifications in medical staff services.
Olympic Medical Center and its divisions now employ more than 1,300 people throughout Clallam County.
