Port Angeles-based Radio Pacific, owner of KONP Radio, announced last week the purchase and launch of a second Port Angeles radio station.

Port Angeles-based Radio Pacific, owner of KONP Radio, announced last week the purchase and launch of a second Port Angeles radio station.

KSTI will operate at 102.1 FM and feature a classic songs of the late 1960s-1980s and early 1990s.

KSTI launches at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, at 102.1 on the FM dial.

The KSTI studios will operate out of newly added office space adjacent to the KONP building at 721 E. First St. in Port Angeles.

The 102.1 frequency originally was obtained by Vicksburg, Miss.-based Owensville Communications in a March 2012 FCC auction.

The company is owned by Mark Jones who operates two stations in the Vicksburg market.

Jones recently approached Radio Pacific, initiating the sale. He spent the past three years researching and building the station for its upcoming debut.

Radio Pacific owner Brown M. Maloney said, “I am most pleased that Mark first offered us the opportunity to purchase this FM frequency. Mark … has come to know and love Port Angeles. In addition, Mark appreciates the chance to see KSTI Port Angeles become locally owned and operated.”

Maloney also announced that KONP station manager Todd Ortloff’s title will change from station manager to general manager, as Ortloff will now oversee both KONP and KSTI radio stations.

For more information, call Ortloff at 457-1450 or e-mail todd@konp.com.
