Four registered nurses received recognition awards at Olympic Medical Center’s board of commissioners meeting on April 6.
Jeana Hutton, Katrin Junghanns-Royak, Myrna Dueno and Kenton Long each care for patients in the Intensive Care/Telemetry Unit and were applauded for their professionalism and attention to patient care.
“Jeana is skilled in caring for the most critical patients in the unit and guides them and their families through their stay in ICU,” RN/director of ICU/Telemetry Bonnie Maley said. “She also helps teach new nurses the skills needed to safely care for critically ill patients and guides Peninsula College nursing students through their training experience.”
“Katrin is a superstar on the night shift and also is skilled in caring for the most critical patients and helps train staff members on CPR and Code Blue drills,” Maley said.
Hutton and Junghanns-Royak also are Advanced Cardiac Life Support instructors for Olympic Medical Center.
Dueno has been a charge nurse with Olympic Medical Center for 29 years. She helps to arrange for quick admissions from the Emergency Department to the Intensive Care and Telemetry units.
“Myrna is a team player, leads by example and always has a sunny disposition,” Maley said.
Long is a charge nurse on the night shift and is level-headed, calm, knowledgeable, organized and caring, according to Maley. He interacts with patients and their families, advocating for them during the night hours.
Added Maley, “Kenton’s positive attitude is infectious and he is an exceptional leader.”
