Olympic Medical Cancer Center is welcoming two new staffers and saying goodbye to a retirng one in coming weeks.

Medical oncologist Rachna Anand has joined the center and oncology nurse practitioner Tamara Montgomery will join the team this month, as medical oncologist Tom Kummet steps down for purposes of retirement.

“Dr. Kummet will be deeply missed by the team here at the cancer center, but also throughout the community,” Ken Berkes, director of Olympic Medical Cancer Center, said. “As we see Dr. Kummet retire, however, we also get to welcome two new outstanding providers to the medical oncology unit. It is exciting to have a team in place for the future.”

Anand is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology. She graduated from the Temple University School of Pharmacy in Philadelphia before obtaining her doctorate from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Montgomery has extensive experience in oncology and hematology, OMC officials said, after working for nearly 12 years as a registered nurse for Hematology Oncology Associates in Medford, Ore., and two years as a registered nurse coordinator for Oregon Health and Sciences University in Portland, Ore.

The medical oncology team also includes doctors Marion Chirayath, Kurt Norman and physician assistant Deborah Turner.

Olympic Medical Cancer Center’s board-certified medical oncologists provide diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of an array of malignant disorders, including solid tumors and cancers of the blood.
