The little green building on the parking lot at the corner of Washington Street and Sequim Avenue has a new tenant.
Pane D’Amore owner Linda Yakush says she hopes to have her Sequim store, now found at the corner of Fifth and Washington, relocated to the spot by the end of September.
The building, last occupied by the Garden Bistro, is now the property of the City of Sequim, which purchased the building when it bought the lot in March. The city paid $215,000 for the package.
Yakush will pay $1,000 a month to lease the building. She said after spotting a “for lease” sign on the building she started making calls. Though it wasn’t the city’s sign, she eventually contacted the city and made an offer.
She said she plans to make small but significant changes to the building to “make it charming,” including replacing the siding and adding planters.
There will be no seating, and no coffee service.
“You can buy your coffee from one of the numerous places in the area,” Yakush said.
The parking lot will be off-limits to parking, but Yakush said a City of Sequim lot located behind Over the Fence will do just fine.
“The city’s going to put up a little barrier with a sign on it to direct people to the parking lot,” she said.
Yakush has run Pane D’Amore for 10 years, and has had a retail presence in Sequim for five years.
The lease agreement was approved by the Sequim City Council during its Aug. 12 meeting.
