Following an announcement earlier this month that Peninsula College will expand capacity in their allied health programs, the college will be holding its first Allied Health Job and Student Recruitment Fair.
Adults with an interest in working in healthcare or enrolling in a healthcare program are encouraged to attend the event, set for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Monday, May 14, in the K Building on the college’s main campus, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
The event is free and open to the public.
Representatives from Olympic Medical Center, the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, Forks Community Hospital, Jefferson Healthcare and others will be on hand to meet with potential students during the six-hour event.
Attendees can also get their financial aid questions answered, meet with human resources professionals, learn more about program deadlines and scholarships, and meet faculty.
Peninsula College is joining forces with healthcare providers in Clallam and Jefferson counties to grow their allied health programs as part of a pilot project to address a critical community need for registered nurses, medical assistants and certified nursing assistants, college officials said in late April.
A proviso in the recently passed state budget will allow the college to expand its allied health programs by hiring three more instructors and increasing the number of students enrolled annually to meet the need for trained health care providers in the community, beginning this fall.
The Peninsula College Foundation is offering $45,000 in scholarships to new Medical Assisting students for fall 2018, and thousands of dollars in scholarships which returning Medical Assisting students may qualify for.
