Starting Aug. 22, the 2013 Sequim High School gold cards are available for purchase.
The gold cards are a yearly fundraiser that feature discounts at many local businesses.
“The cards contain some great deals and most can be used over and over, as many times as you’d like throughout the year,” Dave Ditlefsen, Sequim High School athletic director, said.
“The profits that these cards generate go a long way in helping to purchase uniforms and quality safety equipment, and help get kids to summer camps.”
Players are given opportunities to share in pre-sales like Rotary Club’s Salmon Bake on Aug. 10 and the Sequim Wolf Pack Youth Football’s community physical program.
During the first week of football practice, cards are distributed individually to players who compete for prizes based on the number of cards they sell. The program culminates Saturday, Aug. 31, with “Blitz Day,” where the players don their jerseys and from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. sell cards outside local establishments and in local neighborhoods.
“People look forward to these all year,” SHS football head coach Erik Wiker said.
“There are some fantastic deals that the community gives us to help sell cards. We appreciate the support from these merchants who participate as well as from the community members who purchase cards.”
Cards may also be purchased from Janet Peterson in the SHS main office after Sept. 1.
Businesses featured on the card include: Black Bear Diner, The Cedars at Dungeness golf course, Cracked Bean, Dairy Queen, Discount Tire, Domino’s Pizza, Gabby’s Java, Good Impressions Cleaner, Hardy’s Market, Hurricane Coffee, IHOP, Jack in the Box, Jiffy Lube, McDonald’s, Moon Palace, Oak Table Cafe, Reef Tanning, Sequim Olympic Lanes, SkyRidge Golf Course, Sofie’s Florist, Stymie’s Bar & Grill, Tarcisio’s Restaurant and West Side Pizza.
