Melissa Vemi has been named the 2012 Volunteer of the Year for Sequim Health and Rehabilitation.

“She visits our facility every Monday,” said Karen Wheeler, life enrichment director.

“She has multiple sclerosis and visits our residents with the same challenges that she faces and provides great emotional support. She brings books, magazines, fresh fruits and vegetables that she grows herself to share. She is reliable, dependable and goes above and beyond expectations.

“We are lucky to have her.”
