The Sequim Farmers Market has a full schedule of community events through the end of the year.

The market has been excited to work with local businesses and organizations to offer new events and resources throughout the market season that serve, strengthen, and celebrate our local community and there is still time to get in on the fun.

This Saturday, Oct. 20, is Senior Appreciation Day at the Sequim Farmers Market. Visit the market booth to receive a $2 coupon, which can be used to purchase from any vendor at the market. Coupons are available on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last. This monthly event has been made possible by Park View Villas.

Oct. 27 is the closing day of the Sequim Farmers Market on the Civic Center Plaza, and you won’t want to miss it.

The Kid’s Day Activity Booth will have special guests from the Organic Seed Alliance with materials and tools for kids use and winnow seeds they can bring home to plant in their own gardens. There will be a historic tractor from Sequim Museum & Arts on site for kids to learn about and sit on.

At 10:30 a.m. local yoga teacher Julia Buggy returns with a fall themed kid’s yoga class.

At the Activity Booth there will be $2 coupons available for kids to purchase fruits and vegetables at the market, while supplies last. The monthly Kid’s Day event is hosted by the Sequim Farmers Market in partnership with WSU Clallam County Extension and Olympic View Community Foundation.

Pumpkin contest

On Oct. 27 the Sequim Farmers Market is also hosting a Decorated Pumpkin contest, for adults and children to display their decorated pumpkins with a variety of categories, including Carved Pumpkins, Mixed Media, Painted Pumpkins, and Youth. Time to get your creative juices flowing, and bring your masterpiece to put on display. Costumes are welcome.

Helping out

Food Assistance currency including FMNP, SNAP (EBT), Fresh Bucks, and Market Match tokens can be used at the Sequim Farmers Market through the end of October. The Sequim Farmers Market is proud to offer an outstanding Market Match program, providing matching funds for food assistance dollars redeemed at the market booth. This program allows people with limited income to stretch their food dollars further on healthy, locally grown farm products at the Sequim Farmers Market. The Market Match is generously funded by Sound Community Bank, 1st Security Bank, and Fresh Bucks.

Holidays

On Nov. 17 and Dec. 22 the Sequim Farmers Market holds special holiday markets at the Guy Cole Center, an indoor venue at Carrie Blake Park. The market will be open from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., with some great activities for those of you doing your holiday shopping with kids in tow. At both the November and December events, Blue Mountain Baking Company sponsors a cookie decorating booth for children where kids will have the opportunity to decorate a sugar cookie from our fabulous local bakery.

On Dec. 22, Santa Claus will make a special appearance at the Sequim Farmers Market holiday event, sponsored by market vendor Stonewear Art.

If you find yourself wishing you had help wrapping all those gifts, you are in luck to find a gift wrapping booth hosted by the Sequim Food Bank at both of our Holiday markets. All food and monetary donations received at the gift wrapping booth will support the Sequim Food Bank’s Family Holiday Meal Program, which provides all the fixings for a holiday meal to nearly 1,500 families throughout the holiday season.

A special thanks to Bell & Davis Law, Brokers Group Real Estate, and First Federal Savings & Loan for supporting the Sequim Farmers Market.
