On behalf of the Sequim School District, we extend our deepest gratitude to the voters of our community for supporting the Educational Programs and Operations (EP&O) levy and the school construction bond. Voter turnout levels for a special election were at the top of the state. Your support is an investment in our students, our schools and the future educational programming in our community. We sincerely appreciate the community engagement and outcome of the special election.
The approval of the EP&O Levy ensures continued funding for essential programs and services that directly benefit students, staffing levels, classroom resources, athletics, extracurricular activities and more. These programs enrich learning experiences and provide opportunities that help our students grow and thrive.
The passage of the school construction bond marks a historic moment for our district. With these funds, the district will address long awaited facilities’ needs, enhance safety and security and modernize learning environments that support student success for generations to come.
As we move forward with these projects, we are seeking community members to serve on two important committees:
Bond Oversight Committee
This committee will help ensure transparency and accountability to the community as bond funds are expended for facility improvements and construction.
Design Advisory Committees
These groups will provide input on the design, educational use and campus planning for the replacement of Helen Haller Elementary and Sequim High School, Greywolf Elementary cafeteria, and for design and use specifications for the transportation and athletic facilities upgrade projects.
If you are interested in serving on either committee, we encourage you to apply to be a part of this exciting part of our district’s future. Applications are available on our website sequimschools.org.
We recognize that investing in schools is a decision that affects the entire community, and we are grateful for the trust and support that voters have placed in us. Our commitment is to serve as responsible stewards of approved funds, future facilities and the educational programming students will receive.
Thank you for believing in our students and for supporting the future of education in Sequim School District. Together we are building stronger schools and a stronger community.
Regan Nickels, Superintendent and
Sequim School District Board of Directors
