Five Acre School will host its 15th Barn Dance from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday April 26.

The annual fundraising event will be at the Sequim Prairie Grange, 290 Macleay Road.

“I am thrilled to celebrate 30 years of child-centered learning and community at this year’s 15th annual Five Acre School Barn Dance,” said Sarah Bones, the school’s director. “Even more exciting is that we are returning the event to Sequim and to a new venue. Our annual Barn Dance fundraiser is a true reflection of the spirit of Five Acre — a celebration of family, friends and community connections.”

Tickets are $25 per person and will only be available at the door; youths 12 and younger will be admitted free.

The dance will open with a Kids Zone from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. offering creative opportunities with Play-Doh, kinetic sand, paper crown-making and coloring, a fishing station, temporary tattoos and a do-it-yourself photo booth as well as outdoor lawn games like a giant Connect Four and cornhole.

The music will start at 3 p.m. with Gristle, a new groove rock band featuring members of the Hot Llamas, Topia Vana and Mercy Buckets.

The Sweater Weather String Band will take the stage at 5 p.m. for a 45-minute Family Dance, an easy-to-follow group dance suitable for all ages and experience levels guided by Rosie Sharpe from Five Acre School.

At 5:45 p.m., the band will perform a second set featuring its blend of old-time, honky-tonk, Celtic and indie rock influences.

Mars Garden, including local performers Kim Trennery and Jason Mogi of Deadwood Revival, will take the stage at 7 p.m. to finish the dance.

The Parent Service Organization will host a bake sale of homemade treats and free drip coffee from Rainshadow Coffee Roasting Company.

Food will be available from local vendors Pacific Pantry, Goat & The Radish and Da Kindz Island Grill, while local beer, wine and hard ciders will be available at a beer garden for those 21 and older.

The dance will include a silent auction with curated gift baskets, merchandise and experiences from both local and national donors, along with attraction and event tickets from across the region such as Seafair, the Seattle Art Fair, zoos, aquariums, movie theaters, escape rooms, tours, symphonies and museums.

Winning bidders can pick up their items at the grange hall from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday or from 10 a.m. to noon the following day, on Sunday, April 27.

Bidders also may elect to pay for shipping to their home.

The Barn Dance will feature a $5 raffle with chances to win “A Taste of the Peninsula,” including gift certificates to more than 10 local restaurants; a wellness package, including a sauna session, massage and other rejuvenating experiences; and a photo booth package for your next party.

Raffle tickets will be drawn at 9 p.m. Winners will not need to be present.
