Free circular knitting class today

Monday Musicale Fundraiser
Monday Musicale hosts its Scholarship Benefit Concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 E. Lopez Ave., Port Angeles. Performers include John Allman, Traci Hoveskeland, Thomas McCurdy, The John Lorentzen Family and Allyson, Rachel and Carlin Kramer. Proceeds go to the group’s scholarship fund for students across the peninsula who plan to attend college or university to study music. Last year’s scholarships totaled $10,000. Tickets, $10, are available at Pacific Mist Books in Sequim and at Port Book & News in Port Angeles.
P.C. presents rising comedy star
Peninsula College Associated Student Council presents an appearance by young comedian Prashanth Venkataramanujam at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the PUB on campus, 1502 E. Lauridsen, Port Angeles. Admission is $10, free for P.C. students.
Story of ‘las mariposas’ discussed
"In the Time of the Butterflies" by Julia Alvarez will be discussed at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov.10, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave. Set in the Dominican Republic during the rise of the Trujillo dictatorship, the book blends fact and fiction to recount the true story of the three Mirabal sisters, murdered for their part in a 1960 underground plot to overthrow the government.

Film focuses on oceans
Peninsula College’s Magic of Cinema series presents "Ocean Frontiers: The Dawn of a New Era in Ocean Stewardship" at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at the Maier Performance Hall. The filmmakers crossed the country studying how unlikely allies are cooperating to preserve and manage coastlines and oceans. Cost is $5, free for P.C. students.

Cruise with the symphony
