Deadwood Revival show to benefit foundation
The Juan de Fuca Foundation for the Arts hosts an interactive, live-stream concert with Deadwood Revival at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23.
Kim Trenerry and Jason Mogi have been playing music together since the mid-1990s, notably as members of Joy In Mudville, one of the Juan de Fuca Festival’s most popular local bands. The duo reprise their original duo, Deadwood Revival, for the special one-night-only show.
The live-stream concert is free and funds are raised by donation. RSVP for the show at jffa.org/winter-benefit.

Local artists post ‘Pandemic’ exhibit
Ten artists from across the Olympic Peninsula have contributed to “Pandemic,” a window display exhibit featuring 33 pieces created while sheltering at home, in the Surface Design Association window at Tyler and Lawrence streets in Port Townsend.
Artwork styles include silk dye, hand-dying, resist, trapunto, embroidery, sashiko, paper collage, fabric collage, origami, felting, beading, repurposing, wire and wood sculpture, quilting and fabric piecing. Most of the artwork is for sale.
Sequim artist Linda Carlson contributed “Mountainscape 1,” “Mountainscape 2,” “Origami Garland” and note cards to the exhibit.
Other artists in the exhibit include Evette Allerdings and Barbara Houshmand of Port Angeles, Mary Tyler of Chimacum, Jeri Auty of Port Ludlow, and Port Townsend artists Sue Gale, Cherie Kopp, Debra Olson, Janice Speck and Erika Wurm.
Information on the artists and their pieces is posted on the North Olympic Chapter-Surface Design Washington website at sda-np.com. In normal times, chapter members meet regularly, with meetings rotated between Sequim, Port Angeles and Port Townsend. Meetings are open to the public at no charge.
Camera club to host special guest
Darrell Gulin, a member of the Canon Explorers of Light program, presents “World Travels – From Great Photos to Awarding-Winning Photos,” a webinar via Zoom, to the Olympic Peaks Camera Club at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21.
In the webinar, Gulin, a Sammamish resident with 33 years of photography experience and 25 years as a nature/travel/wildlife photographer, will use photographs taken on seven continents to demonstrate the difference between a “good” photograph and an award-winning photograph.
He will also share his experience about which of his photographs have performed the best (and worst) on social media.
The presentation is open to the public; admission is free for members of the Olympic Peaks Camera Club and $5 for non-members.

Christian writers group to meet Thursday
The Olympic Peninsula Christian Writers Group meets via zoom at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21. The scheduled speaker is Don Goulding, a Sequim author who has published a series of novels, discipleship materials and a book of devotional meditations. He will speak to the group about writing devotionals.

PAFAC to spotlight ‘Magic of Light Art’
On Saturday, Jan. 23, light art will be the topic of conversation at the Port Angele Fine Art Center’s virtual ArtBites event featuring several local artists whose work is currently exhibited in Webster’s Woods Webster’s Woods Sculpture Park, 1203 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.
The presentation, “The Magic of Light Art,” is set for 10 a.m.-noon. It is the latest installment in the center’s ongoing discussion series and will touch on the rapidly expanding field of light art, the experience of working with light as a design element, and the delights and challenges of exhibiting light art outdoors in this climate.
Tickets to the event cost $12 and may be purchased online at pafac.org, with all proceeds going to support the arts center.
The event will include time for small-group discussion and for attendees to interact directly with the panelists. They include artist Loreen Matsushima, artist/author/educator Michael Mills and gallery/program director Sarah Jane.
