Improv Trope returns to OTA stage for show

Imagined Reality, a six-person improvisation troupe, is back on the Olympic Theatre Arts stage for an interactive show set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at OTA, 414 N. Sequim Ave. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Since 2016, Imagined Reality Improv has been bringing laughter to audiences throughout Western Washington. While the members of the group share a love of improv, they come from varied walks of life: a scientist, two lawyers, a classical musician, a professor and a writer, each bringing something unique to the performances and creating one-of-a-kind shows based on suggestions from the audience.

Tickets are $14 and are available online at olympictheatrearts.org or by calling the box office (360-683-7326) between 1-4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.

Writers Read event slated for Aug. 7

The Olympic Peninsula Authors (OPA) will be sharing pieces of writing that have inspired and resonated with them from 2-3 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at the Blue Whole Gallery, 129 W. Washington St.

The aim of this Writers Read event, organizers note, is to highlight the interconnection of the literary community and the ways in which authors draw strength and inspiration from one another either for good or bad.

This event is free and open to the public.

Participants can eat pizza and snacks while playing “Splatoon 3” on Nintendo Switch.

The library will also supply board games and card games, though attendees can bring their own.

OTA sets youth ‘Secret Garden’ production

Re-imagined from the classic piece of children’s literature, a youth production of “The Secret Garden” takes to the Olympic Theatre Arts Stage for six performances over two weekends this month.

Shows are set for 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. matinees on Sundays, Aug. 9-18, at 414 N. Sequim Ave.

The story follows 11-year-old Mary Lennox, a girl orphaned in India who returns to Yorkshire to live with her embittered, reclusive uncle Archibald and his disabled son Colin. The estate’s many wonders include a magic garden and a variety of characters to tell a story about the growth and blossoming of the earth and the human spirit.

Tickets are $20 and are available online at olympictheatrearts.org or by calling the box office (360-683-7326) between 1-4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.
