Student art show coming, accordion social set, jazz show players ready and more.

Student art show  awards to be announced

The opening artist reception and awards ceremony for the 21st Annual Clallam County Student Arts Show sponsored by Sequim Arts is from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at The Landing, 115 Railroad Ave., in Port Angeles.

Accordion social set

The Sequim Accordion Social will be held at the Sequim Shipley Center, 921 E. Hammond St., from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, March 8. A $2 admission is requested at the door to pay for the room. The featured players are Jeannie Berg and Friends from Sequim. All players should bring their accordion and a song or two to play, and accordion lovers are invited to attend for some great music.

Have a little jazz

Seattle’s award-winning jazz pianist, Eric Verlinde, joins Seattle jazz vocalist Jenny Davis for a night of jazz standards from 7-9 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, at Wind Rose Cellars, 143 W. Washington St., Sequim. Both are Cornish College graduates and have decades of experience playing and recording with world class jazz players. In 2012, Verlinde won Seattle’s Earshot Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year award. Davis is working on her master’s degree in jazz arranging and composing.

Duck discussion moved

P.C. presents big band/jazz concert

The Peninsula College Jazz Ensemble presents a wide-ranging, free concert under the direction of Dr. David P. Jones at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, at the Maier Performance Hall on Peninsula College’s main campus, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

Robbin Eaves is the featured vocalist with a 17-piece jazz big band. The repertoire covers eight decades of jazz and popular music.

‘Cultivating Students’ talk set for Studium

Studium Generale welcomes Peninsula College Foundation specialist Jennifer Santry to present a program entitled, “Cultivating Students of Agriculture – Inspiring the Next Generation of Farmers,” at 12:35 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, in the college’s Little Theater, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

Santry has worked in the nonprofit sector for over 13 years as an environmental instructor, land and animal conservationist, and local food advocate.
