Beuke rereleases seaglass book, soul icon plays PA, and more.

Soul/blues icon to celebrates CD release with party

Award-winning soul, blues and R&B vocalist/harmonicist/songwriter Curtis Salgado, touring in support of his new album “The Beautiful Lowdown,” performs at Studio Bob (118 E. Front St.) in Port Angeles on Friday, May 20.

A 40-year veteran of the industry, Salgado co-fronted The Robert Cray Band, led his own band (and recorded nine solo albums), and has toured the country with acts such as Steve Miller and Santana. The May 20 event starts at 8 pm. Cost is $25. See newupstage.com.

Beuke’s book has new edition

The recent edition of Sequim author Mary Beth Beuke’s book, “The Ultimate Guide to Sea Glass,” is a smaller, soft cover version that features 150 full-color photographs and charts. Signed copies are available at www.WestCoastSeaGlass.com.

Fourth Friday Readings will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 27, at the Lodge at Sherwood Village media room, 660 Evergreen Farm Way, Sequim. The open mic is sponsored by Writers on the Spit. PFOA Purr-Fect arts, music event planned

The inimitable band Crocs with their rock, blues and funk stylings and the talented Washington Old Time Fiddlers will be jamming at Studio Bob, 118 1/2 Front St., Port Angeles from 5:30-9 p.m. Saturday, May 21.

Storyteller Ingrid Nixon also will be weaving her tales for the benefit of Peninsula Friends Of Animals. An art show featuring local artists will be featured. Tickets are $10 at the door. Contact 452-0414 or www.safehavenpfoa.org.

Trinity United features music this Sunday

From Haydn’s “Representation of Chaos” to a light-hearted rendition of “Dry Bones,” a wide variety of music styles will be performed on Music Sunday, May 22, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave. “God in Creation” is the theme of the 10 a.m. service.

It will feature the Trinity Singers choir, the Bell Choir, the Praising Hands sign-language choir, instrumentalists and soloists.

Among the Trinity Singers’ numbers will be a portion of “A New Created World” and two pieces by contemporary British composer John Rutter, “All Things Bright and Beautiful” and “Look at the World.”

Calling for art entries

The Washington Secretary of State’s Elections Division is accepting entries in its 2016 Voters’ Pamphlet Contest, open to students enrolled in any Washington college and eligible to vote by this fall’s general election.
