Open call for artists, chorus members and jazz concert coming up at Peninsula College.

Open call for art cart design proposals

The North Olympic Library Foundation is calling for artists and designers to submit design proposals for its Art Cart project. Seven wooden book carts are being decommissioned from the library fleet and creators are needed to turn them into works of art. Local artists of all ages and experience levels are invited to submit design proposals.

The deadline for submitting proposals is noon on June 10. Artists will be notified by July 1 if their designs have been accepted. Upon acceptance, artists are responsible for picking up the cart, cleaning and embellishing it per the proposal and returning the finished cart to the Port Angeles Library by Sept. 30.

For more detailed information about how to submit a proposal for an Art Cart, pick up an Art Cart flier at any NOLS branch or contact artcartdesign@gmail.com.

Jazz it up at P.C.

This free event is open to the public and is from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, in the Pirate Union Building on Peninsula College’s main campus, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd. The repertoire covers eight decades of jazz and popular music. The band’s performers come from Sequim, Port Angeles, Joyce and Port Townsend, and the ensemble is directed by Jones, head of the music program at P.C.
