Trivia at Taproom

Peninsula Taproom, at 210 W Washington St #4, hosts Trivia Night with Jackie and Ben from 6-8 p.m. on the last Wednesday of each month.

The general knowledge contest has a sign up time of 5 p.m. for groups of one to six.

Trio set top tunes at Sequim Elks Lodge

Enjoy live music with local favorites Dawn & Steve, and featuring Russ Lowry on drums, from 6-8:30 p.m.

Sunday, Nov. 24, at the Sequim Elks Lodge, 143 Port Williams Road.

The trio will be playing favorites from 1950s, ’60s and ’70s for both couples dancing and freestyle dancing.

Cost is $10 for Elks members, $12 for guests.

Book signings, sales at Pacific Mist

Three books by two local authors are in the spotlight at a special book signing and sale at Pacific Mist Bookstore, set for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at 122 W. Washington St.

Barb Paschal has written and illustrated two books for youths of ages 5-9 who are struggling to read. The set contains 15 gentle stories about animals, birds, trees, rivers, farms, oceans and ladybugs. They each have names and personalities and live happily together. There are watercolor paintings highlight the stories on every page.

Tim Paschal’s 60 years of hiking, backpacking, climbing, skiing experience in the Olympic Mountains are detailed in his “Loop Hikes in the Olympic Mountains.” He spent 15 years volunteering at the Olympic National Park Visitors Center and said he writes to help others embrace the wonder and challenges of the mountains.

Paschal has also created vintage sleigh Christmas tree ornaments, with all proceeds to be donated to the Boys & Girls Club.

SCO fall concert set for Saturday

The Sequim Community Orchestra Fall Concert is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave.

Directed by Phil Morgan-Ellis, the group will offer this free concert (donations accepted) that includes “The Montagues and the Capulets (Prokofiev), Concerto for Two Trumpets in C (Vivaldi) and Me Mere l’Oye (Ravel).

Thee event includes a bake sale, with proceeds benefiting the Sequim Community Youth Orchestra.

Field Hall has big lineup for November

Field Arts & Events Hall has announced a lineup of theater performances and community engagements this November that seek to offer more than an evening of entertainment. Through partnerships with Port Angeles High School, the Boys and Girls Club, and Olympic Medical Center, this month’s featured shows are designed to “foster connection, broaden perspectives, and give Port Angeles residents a deeper look at the world of professional theater.”

At 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, is “The 7th Voyage of Egon Tichy,” a technically innovative sci-fi adventure from Sinking Ship Productions and Theatre in Quarantine. This production “pushes the technical limits of live theater” by combining an onstage actor with video overlays. Tickets are $25-$50 for adults, $15 for youth.

On Saturday, Nov. 23, internationally acclaimed musician and humanitarian Samite Mulondo brings his one-man show “Resilience” back to Field Hall. “Resilience” intertwines traditional African music and intimate, personal storytelling to chronicle his journey from political refugee in Uganda to celebrated artist and advocate.Field Arts & Events Hall has partnered with Olympic Medical Center to offer 100 complimentary tickets to local healthcare providers.

Tickets are available for performances at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., and are $25-50 for adults, $15 for youth.

Filed Hall will also host Peninsula College’s production of “The Thanksgiving Play” by Native American playwright Larissa Fasthorse at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22 (the play will be performed at Peninsula College at 7 p.m. on Nov. 15-16 and Nov. 23). Tickets are available at the door at both locations: $20 for general admission, free to Peninsula College students.

Woodturning Club members to meet

The Strait Turners Woodturning Club will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Gardiner Community Center, 980 Old Gardiner Road.

This month, Carl Jacobson will be demonstrating the Joyner off-center jig.

Established 2016, the Strait Turners Woodturning Club meets the third Saturday of each month.
