Witherow releases single, ‘Love You Better’

VideOlympics set for Saturday in P.A.
VideOlympics, the homegrown outdoor film festival starring the talent of local filmmakers, athletes and locations, returns to Wine on the Waterfront at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 10. Each submission is judged before the event by a panel of judges. In addition, there is an award for crowd favorite. Admission is $5 at the door, with proceeds going to the Hurricane Ridge Winter Sports Club. All ages are welcome.
Oregon artist on exhibit at college
A solo exhibition by Ore-gon artist Robert Tomlinson is now in Peninsula College’s PUB Gallery of Art, located on the main campus in Port Angeles, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd. Known as the “Stream” series, works are done in oil stick, pastel, chalk, pencil and acrylic on paper. The exhibit runs through May 15. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-8 p.m.
Writers event features Nienow
On Tuesday, May 6, North Coast Writers welcomes Matthew Nienow, who crafts both poetry and wooden boats, for a return engagement. The free reading takes place at 7 p.m. at Wine on the Waterfront, 115 E. Railroad Ave., Port Angeles.
‘The Help’ discussed
“The Help” by Kathryn Stockett will be discussed at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Sequim Library. Copies of the book are available at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., in various formats, including large print, audiobook on CD and downloadable e-book or audio. Request them online through the library catalog at www.nols.org. Pre-registration for this program is not required; drop-ins are welcome.
Accordion players gather
The Sequim Accordion Social will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, May 11, at the Shipley Center, 921 E. Hammond St. A $2 admission is requested at the door to pay for the room. Featured players are Jane and Jeff Anderson — known as Nordic Spirit — from Olympia. All accordion players (bring your accordion) and accordion lovers are invited to attend. Call 683-5620.

Hawaiian music for brunch at Nourish
Naki’i Music will be providing its uniquely interactive, harmonic blend of music of Hawai’i, Sequim and elsewhere as Nourish restaurant honors mothers at a brunch, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. May 11. Family plays benefit for mission trip
Bright Red, a band of a father and his sons from Port Angeles, play classic rock songs by legendary acts at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 10, in Dungeness Community Church, 45 Eberle Lane. The concert helps send six people to Mozambique to work with children, the disabled and poor. While there, the group supports missionaries Larry and Susan Weil. Suggested donation is $10 adult, $5 children and students and $20 max per family. Call 683-7333.
