There will be a wearing of the green — the month’s theme color — for participants in the First Friday Art Walk Sequim, 5-8 p.m. March 1, an early welcome to spring filled with displays of artworks in all media. Meet artists and friends, listen to live music and dive into snacks on a free self-guided tour.

New venues
Two new venues join the art walk this month:
• Designs by Thomas (Thomas Building Center), 337 W. Washington St., showcases the work of Shirley Mercer.
• Colors of Sequim art supplies is now open at 139 W. Washington St. Owners Bridget Baker and Eileen Cummings welcome First Friday visitors with the music of Victor Renfro.
New art
New art is springing up all over town as well:
• The MAC Exhibit Center features the works of public, private and home-schooled Clallam County students in grades 6-12 in the 19th Annual Sequim Arts Student Show. A reception for the young artists is from 5-8 p.m. with an awards ceremony at 6 p.m. “Children’s Cultural Expressions” by the Jamestown S’Klallam Children’s Program continues as well.
• The LARC Gallery, 166 E. Bell St., representing 20 local artists, features award-winning jewelry artist Paulette Hill. LARC hosts a meet-the-artist reception from 5-8 p.m. 460-9874.
• It’s a full bill at Pacific Mist Books, 121 W. Washington St.: Art by JWyatt Art, local “Paths Unknown” author Shirley Davies-Owen (5-8 p.m.), and music by Howly Slim (5-6:30 p.m.), with refreshments by Cameron’s Cafe/Catering and chocolate samplings.
• The Blue Whole Gallery, 129 W. Washington St., welcomes its first featured guest, internationally known artist and teacher Mike McCollum, with an opening reception from 6-8 p.m.
• Meet photographer Robert Haspel, see his wild images of old cars, trains and motorcycles from 5-8 p.m. and hear Mary Tulin and friends play traditional Irish music from 6-8 p.m. at Rainshadow Coffee Roasting Company, 157 W. Cedar St., Sequim. 681-0650.
• The Sunshine Café features young fiddlers, fiber art by Pat Oden and delightful treats at 145 W. Washington St.
• Olivia Bailey’s prints, drawings and watercolors are at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., as part of the ongoing “Art in The Library Series” through May. (Reception will be in April.) www.nols.org.
• Clear Image Sequim is a full-service frame shop and photography solutions service at 518 N. Sequim Ave. that showcases several artists, including Randy Radock.
• Look through Heather Creek for all the shades of green at 122 W. Washington St.
• Henning Erben will be displaying original paintings and Bill Volmut will be playing original music beginning at 6:30 p.m. (no cover) at Wind Rose Cellars, 143 W. Washington St.
• Phil Tauran’s photographs are at Alder Wood Bistro, 139 W. Alder St.
• Full Moon Candle Co. at 161 W. Washington St. showcases various local artists.
• Doodlebugs has a Creative Café Art Bar open and holds a “Happy Hour” when people can create a project every Friday evening from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
• That Takes the Cake inspires sweetness with artful cupcakes and cakes at 171 W. Washington St.
• Meet well-known local artists Sally Cays and Patricia Taynton at the reception at Gallery on the Walls, 128 E. Washington St., from 5-8 p.m.
• Randy Radock’s 3-D artwork on slate and block prints are at The Red Rooster Grocery, 134½ W. Washington St. Meet the artist during the art walk, 5-8 p.m. Randstar119@earthlink.net.
