DRNC to host special screening
The Dungeness River Nature Center will present a special screening of “Inhabitants: An Indigenous Perspective” on Friday, Feb. 28, from 6-8 p.m. at Rainshadow Hall. Tickets are $10 per person, with proceeds supporting the River Center’s educational programs.
“Inhabitants: An Indigenous Perspective” follows five Native American communities as they work to restore their traditional land management practices in response to a changing climate. For millennia, Native peoples have successfully stewarded and shaped their landscapes, yet centuries of colonization have disrupted these sustainable practices. The documentary takes viewers across deserts, coastlines, forests, mountains and prairies, showcasing the resilience of Indigenous communities as they reclaim their ancient relationships with the land.
The event will feature Loni Grinnell-Greninger, vice chair and culture director of the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribal Council, as a special guest speaker. She will share insights into the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe’s vision of food sovereignty and traditional land management practices.
The event is part of the River Center’s ongoing film series, highlighting stories that foster deeper connections to both cultural and natural heritage.
For more information about the screening or to reserve tickets, contact the Dungeness River Nature Center at 360-681-4076.
