‘Be Gone, Winter!’

Women’s Chorale sings in spring

The NorthWest Women’s Chorale presents “Be Gone, Winter!” the annual spring concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim; and at 7 p.m. Monday, May 20, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 N. Lopez Ave., Port Angeles.

Directed by Joy Lingerfelt and with collaborative pianist Kristin Quigley-Brye, the group presents a program that ranges from Mendelssohn’s “On Wings of Song” to new composer Abbie Betinis’ “Cedit, Hyems” to “Famine Song,” inspired by stories of Sudanese basket weavers in the 1980s famines.

The program also includes an a cappella shape-note composition, a Welsh “nonsense” song and encore presentations of local composer Linda Dowdell’s “Shiver Me Timbers” and other favorites.

A singalong is always a highlight of a NorthWest Women’s Chorale concert. Both locations are handicapped accessible.

Admission is a suggested donation of $10 at the door.
