Brian “Buck” Ellard opens St. Luke’s Episcopal Church’s 2019-2020 Music Live at One season with tunes from Jimmy Buffett to Leonard Cohen.
Ellard said he plays songs made up of all the requests he has gotten through the years from his listeners. He’ll perform at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, at the church, 525 N. Fifth Ave.
Some of his songs feature gospel pieces arranged by Alan Jackson such as “How Great Thou Art” and “Stroll Over Heaven With Me.”
He began singing professionally at 15 and has toured extensively in America, Canada, and Europe opening for David Allen Coe, Hank Williams III, and Hank Thompson.
Following his performance, Jason Paul and Gary Prosser play folk music on Nov. 12.
Music Live was founded more than 30 years ago at St Luke’s as a musical outreach to the community with all proceeds helping local, regional and global concerns. The 1 p.m. concert in the sanctuary is followed by camaraderie and apple crisp in the parish hall.
Single show tickets cost $10 and a season ticket for all six concerts is $50. Purchase them at the church office between 9 a.m.-noon, Monday-Thursday, or at the door.
