Chamber seeks map artists

The Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce Merchants Group seeks artists interested in creating a Downtown Walking Fun-Map. The concept of the map is to be a whimsical and artistic representation of the downtown core shopping area to share with tourists.
It is envisioned that the final map will be 8½ inches by 11 inches and include the core area of downtown Sequim ? bounded by Sunnyside Avenue on the east, by Third Avenue on the west, by Alder Street on the north and by Bell Street on the south.
To be considered for the development of the map, artists should submit a minimum of three samples of artwork for evaluation by July 27. Drop off portfolios to the chamber at 1192 E. Washington St., or submit them electronically to shelli@sequimchamber.com.
Along with sample artwork, submit a bid amount for the complete project, which will include the ultimate design of the 8½ inches by 11 inches product of the project area described above. Include contact information (including e-mail address) with the samples and bid.
The chamber anticipates selecting the final artist by the second week in August. The artist chosen will be notified immediately. Submitting artists must be able to produce a draft map of the full project area for the selection committee by Sept. 9 and the final product by Oct. 14.
The selected artist will receive additional input and guidelines regarding the creation of the final map, as well recognition of his or her work.
