The Clallam County Gem &Mineral Association hosts its annual open house on Saturday, April 22, and they’ll have new digs — so to speak — to show off.
The group has a new lapidary classroom at its facility at its building, 81 Hooker Road, Unit 5, in Carlsborg.
The open house, set 10 a.m.-3 p.m., features club members on hand to show attendees how to cut and polish stones, and instructors also will explain the various classes the club offers.
The new lapidary classroom provides space for teaching metal smithing, faceting, beading, chain maille, gem tree making, wire wrapping and other lapidary classes, club members say.
The club is a nonprofit association organized for educational activity in the science of geology as it relates to the discovery of rock, mineral and fossils; the art of lapidary to enhance rocks’ natural beauty and to the promotion of rocks and “rock hounding” through information and special programs.
