Club of the week

Kiwanis Club of the Sequim-Dungeness

This small club has a big mission.

Kiwanis Clubs work to improve the lives of children throughout the world. The Sequim club numbers fewer than 20 members, and more people who are interested in helping with club projects will be welcome.

A major project is supporting the Northwest Kiwanis Camp, for people with disabilities, at Beausite Lake in Jefferson County. The club also gives scholarships and books to Sequim elementary students and supports other community programs.

Lunch meetings, often with a speaker, are held at noon Thursdays at the Paradise Restaurant at 703 N. Sequim Ave.

At the Jan. 28 meeting, Kathy Monds, director of the Clallam County Historical Society, spoke and shared "mystery" items from the society’s collection. The Feb. 4 meeting will be on investing.

It’s a congenial group that enjoys keeping up with community events and working together. Call 681-0805 or visit www.sequim-dungenesskiwanis.org.
