WAG fundraiser

Tedesco’s 7th Annual WAG Night is set for March 19 and 20, from open to close both days. Tedesco’s will donate 15% of sales, both dine-in and take-out, to Welfare for Animals Guild.

Many of the WAG officers, directors and staff will dine at the restaurant over the course of the two days and will be glad to say hello.

“This is one of our favorite events of the year,” said Mel Marshall, operations manager of the Halfway Home Ranch, the WAG facility on McComb Rd. “We are so grateful for the people in our community who come to support WAG – and have a great meal at the same time.”

Barb Brabant, WAG’s president, said, “It’s support like Tedesco’s WAG Night that helps us keep going. Everyone loves to chat about their dogs and share stories over wine and Tedesco’s Italian Fresh. It’s all for the dogs!”

The annual event is popular, so reservations are recommended. Call 360-504-3821.

WAG is a nonprofit dog rescue in Sequim. Funded solely by donations, it offers a safe environment to dogs brought to the ranch where they receive medical care, socialization and training to prepare them for adoption. WAG has placed over 2,200 dogs into “forever” homes.

Apply for grants, scholarships

The Clallam County Physicians Community Benefit Fund is now accepting applications for both academic scholarships in medically related fields and medically related community grants. The scholarships and grants will be awarded in 2025-2026.

The Benefit Fund was formed in 1995 when Regence BlueShield joined with Clallam County Physicians Service, Inc., a company formed by local physicians to provide health care coverage to Clallam County citizens.

The goal of the academic scholarship program is to provide tuition support for students in medically related fields. To be eligible, a student must have been a resident of Clallam County while meeting one of the graduation pathway options for Washington State high school graduation, and have been accepted into, or be currently enrolled and making satisfactory progress in, a fully accredited professional school in a medically related program.

The goal of the community grants it to encourage one-time medically related community projects that will benefit a broad cross-section of the community.

Applications for the academic scholarships and community grants may be obtained by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to the Clallam County Physicians Community Benefit Fund, P.O. Box 3005, Port Angeles, Washington 98362. Applications may also be requested by email at walklingtrust@gmail.com.

Completed applications for scholarships and grants must be submitted by Friday, June 13.
