‘Dine on the Dungeness’ expands to two-day fundraiser

The Dungeness River Nature Center’s once-a-year dining experience is back — this time, for double the fun.

“Dine on the Dungeness” is now a two-evening experience, this year set for 6-8 p.m. on Friday, July 26, and Saturday, July 27, offering dinner (literally) over the Dungeness River on the deck of the historic bridge at Railroad Bridge Park, 1943 W. Hendrickson Road.

River Center officials noted the additional day was added due to the “Dine on the Dungeness” dinner’s popularity over the years, selling out well in advance of the event date.

Access to the dinners are from the River Center parking lot.

Michael McQuay, the classically-trained chef of Kokopelli Grill in Port Angeles, will grill fresh local salmon on site, served with pineapple salsa, roasted red potatoes, ratatouille, a dressed green salad and dessert. The event will include a no-host bar serving wine, beer and cider.

Tickets are $140 per person at round tables seating six. Each ticket includes one free alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage. Whole tables may be reserved for $840. Only 20 tables (120 seats) are available. Reservations must be made in advance at DungenessRiverCenter.org.

Organizers note the event has become a River Center tradition because of the “unforgettable view, the everlasting impressions, and the unique experience of dining on one of the last remaining ‘timber, Howe through-truss’ railroad bridges in Washington state.”
