Mary Beth and Rick Holladay, owners of the historic Cline Barn in Dungeness, held a Labor Day shindig to celebrate its 90th birthday.
The couple hosted more than 50 people at 712 Clark Road for a potluck that included barbecue pork from Oasis, tethered hot air balloon rides with Captain Crystal Stout and her Dream Catcher Balloon program, and fiddle and piano music by Annie Hogenboom and Nick Jaeger.
The bow-truss barn was built in 1934 by William Henry and Laura Irene Evans Cline for their dairy farm but used for its operations for about five years.
They passed their farm onto daughter Margaret and son-in-law Ernest Bigelow and has been used for several things in its many years, including as a dance hall, gymnasium, and storage for hay, tulip bulbs and boats.
The Cline Bigelow family sold the last 5 acres of the barn’s property in 1973 and it’s had several owners since, including most recently Holladays.
In the late 2000s, former owner Charles Steel added inner walkways, new sliding barn doors, copulas and exterior windows and a weather vane, and in 2012 renovated all 10,000 square feet of the barn’s roof.
Mary Beth and Rick host Holladay Barn Christmas Market for the public after Thanksgiving from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Nov. 29-30.
