Music commemorates Christmas at St. Luke’s

Lorraine Martin directs the choir of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim, in a Choral Prelude at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 24 featuring “Laudate Dominum,” “Jubilate Deo,” “O Holy Night” and “Mary Had a Baby.” Music continues throughout the Christmas Eve Service which begins at 7 p.m. Participants may join in with the choir singing “O Come All Ye Faithful,” “Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” The First Noel,” and concluding with the tradition of “Joy to the World.” A Christmas service is scheduled for 10 a.m. All are welcome to join in the celebrations.

Candle-lighting at park

The Sequim Center for Spiritual Living announces its 21st Annual Christmas Candle-lighting Service at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, at Pioneer Park, 387 E. Washington St. The congregation will sing Christmas carols with piano accompaniment by Al Harris. Vocals and carols sung by the congregation are led by vocalist Mary Ellen Bartholomew. Seven candles representing the seven attributes of God: Life, Love, Light, Peace, Power, Beauty and Joy, are lit by members of the congregation. The service concludes with lighting of individual candles. The Revs. Lynn Osborne, Michael Laakso and Deborah Nygaard will be on hand to greet all attendees.

Candlelight service at Trinity

A Christmas Eve candle-lighting service is at 6 p.m. Dec. 24 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave., Sequim. Music includes the Trinity Singers, bell choir and Carlos Xavier on the flute. The congregation will sing traditional carols and the “Friendly Beasts” animal puppets will appear. The service concludes with lighting of individual candles and singing of “Silent Night.” The church’s 10 a.m. service on Christmas Day features a carol sing and other music.

Christmas Eve services at King’s Way

King’s Way Foursquare Church, 1023 Kitchen-Dick Road, Sequim, will have a special Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, with Christmas carols. Christmas Day Worship at King’s Way Foursquare Church will be at 6:30 p.m. only. Enjoy Christmas morning with your family and join the congregation to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ in the evening.

Service at the Fifth Avenue

A Christmas Eve candlelight service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, at the Fifth Avenue, 500 W. Hendrickson Road. The Rev. Julia McKenna-Blessing will be officiating and Eric Anderson will be the pianist. The Sequim community is invited. “The Season of Light for Us ALL,” is McKenna-Blessing’s message.
