Field Hall sets October events

Live performances, a film screening and storytelling are all on tap this October at the Field Arts & Events Hall, 201 W. Front St., Port Angeles.

At 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, enjoy a screening of the 1984 classic “The Neverending Story,” a children’s film that follows a young boy who discovers a magical book that brings an epic adventure to life. Costumes and theatrical dress are encouraged. Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for youths.

Field Hall hosts “Mummenschanz: 50 Years” at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18. Since 1972, this Swiss, multi-award-winning troupe has captivated audiences worldwide with their unique, non-verbal storytelling. The “50 Years” anniversary show brings sketches from the past half-century, using everyday objects to spark imagination and wonder. Tickets are $45-$75 for adults, $20-$40 for youths.

At 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, National Geographic Live presents photographer Kiliii Yüyan’s images that celebrate the resilient wildlife and diverse Indigenous communities in the polar north. Presented in partnership with North Olympic Land Trust, 20% of proceeds from this show will be donated to the nonprofit. Tickets are $25-$45 for adults, $15-$25 for youths.

Two “LED: Kid Lightning” performances — set for 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 — tell the story of a group of talented contestants on a popular game show. Set within a 1970’s stylized world, these individuals push their limits to claim fame and enter the arena of celebrity, only to discover that it was more than they bargained for. The1 p.m. show is an abbreviated 60-minute performance designed for families, while the 7:30 p.m. performance is the full theatrical dance performance. Tickets are $25 for adults, $10 for youths for the 1 p.m. show, and $40-$65 for adults and $20-$45 for youths for the evening performance.

At 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29, enjoy “Ghost Stories: Head Bone Rattles with Kim Weitkamp,” a special Halloween event in the Sunset Lounge with an award-winning storyteller. Presented by the Story People of Clallam County & Field Hall, this event sees Weitkamp share her most-requested darker tales mixed with humor and live music. This presentation is not recommended for children younger than 13. Tickets are$22 for adults, $15 for youths.
