Final Second Saturday garden walk slated for Sept. 14

Veteran Master Gardeners Jan Bartron, Bob Cain, Laurel Moulton and Audreen Williams will lead the final Second Saturday Garden Walk of the season from 10-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Fifth Street Community Garden in Port Angeles.

The quartet will examine what is happening (or should be happening) in local vegetable gardens.

This walk’s topics will include but not limited to late summer/fall tomato care, multiple aspects of saving seeds and using cover crops in the vegetable garden.

See this year’s gardening successes in the 50-plus garden plots and get ideas for laying out your garden next spring including the design of and various materials used for raised garden beds and plant support and trellising structures.

The walk occurs rain or shine and is free and open to the public.

The Fifth Street Community Garden is located at 328 E. Fifth Street in Port Angeles just off Peabody, right across from City Hall.

Attendees are encouraged to check the Clallam County Master Gardener online calendar for updates at extension.wsu.edu/clallam/master-gardener-calendar or call 360-565-2678 or 360-565-2679.
