Flute, bassoon provide music for lunch

Duo won awards from P.A. Symphony

Music Live with Lunch presents "Music for Flute and Bassoon," featuring Hannah Fishman and Hunter Gordon, at noon Tuesday, Feb. 16, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim.

Both musicians are seniors at Port Angeles High School. Fishman has played the flute for nine years, and Gordon has played bassoon for seven years. They will play the Bassoon Concerto in F Major by Carl Maria von Weber, a Sonatine for Flute by Pierre Sancan, and a Trio for Flute, Bassoon and Piano by Hans Possega. Pianist is Kristin Quigley Brye.

Gordon won first place at the recent Port Angeles Symphony Young Artist Competition and will perform at the symphony’s "Concert and Cuisine" event in September. Fishman won honorable mention in the same competition. As a duet, they won first place in the Small Woodwind Division of the 2009 Washington State Solo and Ensemble Contest.

Music Live with Lunch is held the third Tuesday of each month from September through May, omitting December. A half-hour concert in the church is followed by a hot lunch in the Parish Hall. Admission, which includes the concert and lunch, costs $10. Tickets may be purchased at the church from

9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m.-noon Friday. Call 683-4862 before coming for tickets.
