After months of anticipation, rock outfit Foghat rolls into Sequim this weekend in what is likely the North Olympic Peninsula’s first outdoor major rock concert.
Tickets still are available for the show as part of Foghat’s 40th anniversary tour, which begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at the James Center for the Performing Arts, 563 N. Rhodefer Road, north of Carrie Blake Park.
Concert organizer Quinn Hampton said Foghat, known for hits “Slow Ride” and “Fool for the City” along with one platinum, one double platinum and seven gold records, plans to play an extended set.
“They are coming here to blow this town away,” Hampton said.
Seattle band Medicine Hat opens the evening.
Tickets are $60 for VIP seats, $40 quality reserved and $25 general admission (bring a chair or blanket). Attendees are encouraged to bring a jacket.
Advanced sales end Thursday, Sept. 10, and only will be available at the show’s doors and online at www.foghat.brownpapertickets.com and www.sequimconcerts.com.
Ticket outlets include 7 Cedars Casino, Windermere Realty and Olympic View Inn in Sequim, Odyssey Bookshop and Strait Music in Port Angeles and Pennysaver in Port Townsend.
Doors open at 6 p.m. with The Cedars at Dungeness providing food and a full service bar — oysters, halibut, Angus burgers, Greek salad in pitas, brats and more with a portion of proceeds benefiting Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County and the Northwest Raptor & Wildlife Center.
As another treat, tickets are available for a special dinner at The Cedars at Dungeness which hosts a meet-and-greet wine dinner with Foghat at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11. The meal includes chardonnay, cabernet and pinot noir wine from Foghat Cellars and multiple types of meals paired with the wine.
Tickets are $75 per person. RSVP to Matt Eveland at 683-6344, ext.8 or mevelend@7cedarsresort.com.
Prior to the show, bikers are encouraged to take a “Slow Ride” from concert sponsor Destination Harley Davidson of Silverdale to the concert at 5 p.m. Saturday, which includes food and drink discounts at the show and room discounts at Olympic View Inn and EconoLodge when you mention Foghat.
All concert-goers are invited to sign up for a chance to win a 2015 Wide Glide Harley-Davidson motorcycle, as well as other cool prizes at the Destination Harley booth.
Hampton said band members plan to spend the weekend in Sequim fishing and golfing and appreciate Sequim’s hospitality.
“They are looking to leave a lasting impression and leave it all on the stage,” he said.
