Free community weekend set at Field Arts & Events Hall

A weekend of free performances from local artists dubbed “Community Days” is set for Saturday and Sunday, July 22 and 23 — one week before the Grand Opening celebration — at the Field Arts & Events Hall, 201 W. Front St., Port Angeles.

Saturday’s “Amplified” lineup includes Black Diamond Junction, AntBath, Olympic Express Big Band, Hermit Mabon, Ross Hamilton Photography, Scott Sullivan, Key City Ramblers, Steve W. Young, Three Too Many, and Bread & Gravy.

Performing on “Unplugged” Sunday are Cort Armstrong, Studio 360 performing “Peter and the Wolf,” Sequim Community Orchestra, JFFA with PA Panto presenting Creative Arts Camp, Peninsula Queer Xhoir, Cherrywood, Bread & Gravy, Sylvia Joyce Wanner School and the Sequim City Band.

All events are free and open to the public; no tickets or reservations are required. For a complete list of performers and a schedule of events, visit fieldhallevents.org/community-days.

“The intention of this weekend is to open the house and invite our community inside to explore and enjoy,” said Kayla Oakes, Director of Education & Artistic Engagement at Field Hall.

“We are thrilled to showcase our local performing artists and offer a variety of programming options.”

“Community Days” is made possible through presenting sponsorship from North Olympic Healthcare Network (NOHN). Additional sponsorship support comes from the Peninsula Daily News and Newsradio KONP, as well as community sponsors Camaraderie Cellars and Pacific Rim Hobby.

City band preps for PA stage

The Sequim City Band has a special performance this month and is honored to be the final performance for the Field Arts & Events Hall’s “Community Days” celebration

The band — which will be the largest ensemble to perform — takes the stage at 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, July 23.

The band has selected some pieces that highlight the features of the hall, including the rich, full arrangement of “Shenandoah” by Frank Tichelli.

In tribute to the design of the concert hall, the band is preparing a medley of songs from Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Phantom of the Opera.”
