This month, Music Live with Lunch takes a turn to the earlier days of music with The Olympic Early Music Ensemble.

The group of musicians with a passion for music from past centuries plays at noon Tuesday, March 18, followed by a corned beef lunch at 12:30 p.m. A vegetarian alternative is available.

For 20 years, The Olympic Early Music Ensemble has performed on the peninsula under the direction of Dr. Dennis Crabb focused on music inspired by music of England and Continental Europe from the 1500s through the mid-1700s. Members have been studying the techniques and complexities of instruments from those times, such as the recorder, viola da gamba and krummhorn.

Some of their selections include “Ricercare del 12 Tono” by A. Gabrielli, “Birds Never Soar” by Lars-Erik Larsson and “Capriol Suite, Nos. 1, 2 and 4” by Peter Warlock.

Tickets for the show are $10 and available at the door or through St. Luke’s Episcopal Church’s office, 525 N. Fifth Ave., which opens 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday-Thursday. For more information call, 683-4862.

Music Live with Lunch was founded by Lou and Bill Yandell 23 years ago at St. Luke’s as an outreach program to the community.

Organizers and attendees continue to mourn Lou Yandell who died on Feb. 8. Her inspiration, beautiful voice and ever constant laughter will be greatly missed, organizers said.
