While you might mistake their voices for those of angels, the Seattle Girls Choir’s Prime Voci is making its way to Sequim.
The world-renowned choral group will perform a free concert at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave., where the performance will feature selections from the group’s competition repertoire, such as pieces by John Muehleisen, Robert Schumann, Rebecca Clarke and Daniel Gawthrop.
Prime Voci earned second place in the Children’s Folk Song category and sixth place in the Open Choir category at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in Wales, one of the largest cultural festivals in Europe with competitors representing 100 different nationalities.
The choir’s founder, Dr. Jerome Wright, is the choral director for Trinity United Methodist Church in Sequim and is delighted to have these young women perform a concert for the Sequim community.
“Our founder, Dr. Jerome Wright is an esteemed member of the Sequim community and choral director for the Trinity United Methodist Church and for years we have talked about organizing a concert there,” said Jennifer Alexander-Hill, Seattle Girls Choir director of development and special events.
“We were thrilled to finally make it happen.”
After the concert, Prime Voci will attend a week-long retreat and summer camp at Fort Flagler Historical State Park.
