Heins honored as supervisor of year

Clallam Conservation District board member Matt Heins recently was honored by the Washington State Conservation Commission as the supervisor of the year for northwest Washington.

The award was presented in recognition of Heins’ “commitment to and leadership in partnering with local entities, including the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe and North Olympic Salmon Coalition, to facilitate water quality and habitat improvements in and adjacent to Dungeness Bay.”

His dedicated representation of the Clallam Conservation District mission in various forums also was noted, as was his leadership in pioneering a cost sharing program to help repair failing septic systems and leadership with irrigation districts and companies to help them conserve water.
