Sequim residents can get their fix of gospel, folk, bluegrass and more with an upcoming concert featuring the CD release of touring musicians Hilary &Kate.

Hilary Watson and Kate Feldtkeller, known as “Hilary &Kate” have been touring up and down the West Coast debuting songs from their latest album “Forgive Me If I go” and will make their stop in Sequim from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 22, at Calvary Chapel Sequim, 91 S. Boyce Road.

The concert will kick off with a set of “gospel-bluegrass-singalong-foot-stomping” originals performed by local musician David Issac Rivers.

The Hilary &Kate duo is known for their combined talents of vocals, guitar and violin creating original music rooted in folk, bluegrass and gospel. The two women are both from San Luis Obispo, Calif., and began playing and recording together in 2012. Their music has led them to tour throughout the US and Europe.

Rivers’ is a Sequim native that formed the band Abby Mae &the Homeschool Boys in 2009 and led the group to play all over the Northwest.

He also played regularly with Irish fiddler Erin Hennessey and currently leads Folk-Worship-Hymns at Calvary Chapel in Sequim and plays backup to fiddle virtuoso, Kate Powers.

Hilary &Kate have performed three times in the Sequim area previously and said their latest album features a more Appalachian country and Celtic feel offering a different experience from their previous work.

“We’ve had a blast playing there before, and we’re coming back with a new album,” Watson and Feldtkeller said.

Watson, Feldtkeller and Rivers met while playing a show together at Calvary Chapel Sequim back in 2013 and since have made it an annual tradition to play together.

“I’m mostly excited to finally hear them again,” Rivers said.

“Hilary &Kate are incredible performers, and create such polished, gospel-bluegrass-country goodness, that I know it’s going to be a truly great show.”

The event is open to all ages and admission is free.
