Imaginative blue for First Friday art walk

First Friday Art Walk Sequim is a fun, free, self-guided tour of local art venues in Sequim on the First Friday of every month from 5-8 p.m.

The theme for the Sept. 5 First Friday Art Walk is blue. The honest hue of blue represents responsibility, loyal alliances, creative professionalism and empowers peaceful ambitions. Find works of art and folks supporting the option to dress in shades of blue or representations of lofty and sublime aspirations as they enjoy an evening on the town with friends and family.

Special events for Sept. 5

• Olympic Theatre Arts, 414 N. Sequim Ave., welcomes the Olympic Peninsula Men’s Chorus’ No Batteries Required this Friday, Sept. 5 for a free concert. The music presentation at the OTA Center will begin at 6 p.m. with a full stage production of “Rose’s Dilemma” opening that night at 7:30 p.m. For more information on the Art Walk presentation, or to buy tickets for “Rose’s Dilemma,” contact the box office at 683-7326, which is open 1-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

• Bonus location for the Art Walk! Adagio Bean & Leaf is exhibiting fine art photography and greeting cards of Jan Kepley at 981 E. Washington St. Resonance Cards is a line of greeting cards that uses gentle imagery to help you express feelings, emotions, thoughts and caring by Kay and Jan Kepley. They encourage people to use their cards to connect with others to thank them, hug them, appreciate them, celebrate them and in this small way make their day a little brighter.

• Treble Around the Sound, Paula Crawford, Beth Barrett, Sheryl Smith and Nancy Davis, will be singing on the sidewalks and at various venues during the Art Walk.

• Dungeness Kids Co. at 163 W. Washington St. will host Sharon Ross with her one of a kind doll clothes. These outfits are handcrafted for American Girl dolls and make special gifts.

• Colors of Sequim, 139 W. Washington St., has Catherine Mix as the featured mixed media artist, children’s author Sally Harris, Brad Griffith promoting his craft wood stick art, and music by Victor Reventlow. Nationally recognized for her children’s books, Harris will sign copies of her books, “The Caterpillar’s Dream,” “Color Me Happy” and “Rainbow Nights.”

Sequim Arts announces the following fine arts venues in September:

First Friday Art Walk 5-8 p.m. in Sequim

• Blue Whole Gallery, 129 W. Washington St. Featured artists of the month are two award-winning artists Lynne Armstrong, veteran painter, and Debbie Cain, gourd artist. Meet the artists from 5-8 p.m.

• Colors of Sequim, 139 W. Washington St. Catherine Mix’s multi-media art will be on display for September. Victor Reventlow will be playing his music on First Friday at the reception from 5-8 p.m.

• Gallery at the Fifth, 500 W. Hendrickson Road. The featured artist is Ryoko Toyama with watercolor and acrylic paintings. Meet the artist and see her art from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7.

• Rainshadow Roasting Company, 157 W. Cedar St. Sample gourmet and exotic coffee brewed from beans roasted and ground on premises. Open First Friday from 5-8 p.m.

• Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave. Pat Taynton’s photography and oil paintings will be featured through December. Meet the artist from 5-8 p.m. Limited library services will be available during the after-hours reception.

• Sequim Museum & Arts Center, 175 W. Cedar St. Exhibit: “5×7 Showing” through Sept. 27. Each piece sells for $20 and the artist is unknown until after the sale. Artists’ reception from 5-7 p.m. on First Friday.

• Strait Financial Advice, 193 W. Cedar St. Scott Erickson exhibits his photographic scenes of the Southwest, Alaska, North Olympic Peninsula and other locations in the U.S. on a rotating basis.

• Sunshine Café, 145 W. Washington St. The works of the late Tim Quinn, a gifted local artist, will be shown from 5-8 p.m.

• Wind Rose Cellars, 143 W. Washington St. Local artists. Open to 9 p.m. on First Friday with wine tasting and late evening entertainment.

• LARC Gallery, 425 E. Washington St. Demonstration of Spray Can Pop Art with a “rural” flavor by Daniel Owens. Meet the artist from 5-8 p.m.

• R&T Crystals and Beads, 158 E. Bell St. Jewelry demonstrations.
