Avid bicyclists are bringing their rides to the Sequim Irrigation Festival.

On Saturday, May 1, the second Bicycle Poker Run takes place all around

Sequim.

Riders make up to seven stops in any order to collect playing cards, hoping for the best five-card poker hand.

Participating business stops are:

• Mike’s Bikes

• Purple Haze Lavender

• Port Williams Lavender

• Jardin du Soleil

• Nash’s Farm Store

• Nelsons Duck Pond & Lavender Farm

• Cedarbrook Lavender & Herb Farm

Riders will go about 38 miles if they go the distance.

Co-organizer Dave Neidhardt said they started the event to tie in with the Family Fun Day at Carrie Blake Park.

"It also shows off the wonderful farms in the area," Neidhardt said.

Last year’s event had 18 bicyclists but only 12 finished, due to poor weather.

Organizers seems optimistic about this year’s participation, with increased advertising and awareness.

Dog park benefits

Participants can register at 9 a.m. at Carrie Blake Park, 202 Blake Ave., at the Dog Park Pals tent.

The rider who returns to the park with the best hand at 2 p.m. wins 50 percent of the pot. Other prizes include gift certificates and products from local merchants.

Part of the registration fee, $2, benefits the Sequim Dog Park and the rest goes to the Sequim Irrigation Festival.
