Shiitake and oyster mushrooms can add a delicious dimension to any dish.
Find out how you can grow your own by joining Master Gardener Bob Blackett for the “Mushroom Growing with Shiitake and Oyster Plugs,” a Digging Deeper Saturday presentation, starting at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Woodcock Demonstration Garden, 2711 Woodcock Road in Sequim.
For this log-plugging workshop, registered attendees will drill holes and pound about 50 shiitake mushroom plugs into an alder log and about 50 oyster mushroom plugs into a maple log. Participants will take home their plugged logs and, in a year or so, be able to harvest their own mushrooms.
This event will include a tour of the mushroom garden.
There is a $20 fee for materials. Enrollment is limited; RSVP by Thursday, Oct. 10.
