Learn from gardening pros at Green Thumbs presentation

Know before you grow with information from local gardening experts at the next Green Thumb Education Series event, set for noon-1 p.m. Thursday, May 11, in the Carver Room at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.

David Whiting and Jeff de Jong give tips on how to create a thriving, interesting garden year-round in their presentation, “Forty Plants, Four Seasons.”

The duo will look at 40 plants for a multi-season garden that have performed well in their own Port Angeles green spaces. Some plants are common while many are more unusual and strikingly different.

The will also discuss selecting plants suitable for the northern Olympic Peninsula’s climate and soil and how to take advantage of micro-climates and plant challenges to create a lovely four-season garden.
