Library ends circus season with ‘Cabaret’

"Cabaret," directed by Bob Fosse and starring Liza Minnelli, Michael York and Joel Grey, will be shown at the Sequim Library at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 20.

The free film is the last in the Circus Cinema series at the library. It also is the final special event of the Winter Reading Circus: A Library Reading Program for Adults.

Based on Christopher Isherwood’s book "Berlin Stories," the musical, set against the backdrop of the growing repressive power of the Nazi party in Germany, follows the fate and romances of Sally Bowles, a cabaret singer. At stake are artistic and personal freedoms. Rated PG, the film is intended for adult audiences. Seating is limited. Free tickets for the film will be available 30 minutes before show time.

Participants in the Winter Reading Circus who attend the film will have one last opportunity to enter the grand prize drawings for a Nook e-reader or an overnight stay at Lake Crescent Lodge in Olympic National Park. The Winter Reading Circus: A Library Reading Program for Adults encourages adults to read or listen to at least five books between January and March 20.
