With summer right around the corner (June 21), the warmer weather brings berry season back and a variety of seasonal produce.
For those who prefer farm to table produce, we’ve found there are a couple of ways — some may even say “fun” ways — to harvest this summer in and around Sequim. If you don’t have time to make a run to the grocery store and can’t wait for the farmer’s market on Saturdays, there are alternative ways to get local, fresh produce to your kitchen table.
The Gazette staff has made a list of places to go berry picking this summer as well as a number of farm stands available near Sequim:
Berry picking
Graysmarsh Farm, 6187 Woodcock Road, offers a u-pick experience starting tentatively next week (website says to check it for an exact date). Strawberries are the first in season (early June), followed by raspberries (early July-early August), lavender (mid July-August), Loganberries (mid July-August), boysenberries (early August) and blueberries (mid July-September). To learn more, call 360-683-0624 or visit online at https://graysmarsh.com/.
Dungeness Meadow Farm, 135 Meadowmeer Lane, offers a u-pick experience tentatively from mid-late July-September. It is a USDA certified organic blueberry farm that usually is open three to five days each week for six to eight weeks during its season, according to the business’ website. The season is determined by the berries each year and the website advises to check it for exact dates on when the u-pick will open.

Editor’s note: Cameron’s Berry Farm closed last year and will no longer offer its u-pick strawberries.
