The Museum & Arts Center in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley is venturing outside the lines in November with a featured art exhibit that celebrates artistic freedom, experimentation and license.

The open-entry exhibit “Abstractions: A Show Cele-brating Color, Line & Shape” opened Nov. 1 at the MAC Exhibit Center, 175 W. Cedar St. in Sequim.

An artists’ reception celebrating the show, part of the First Friday Art Walk Sequim, is from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4.

The exhibit showcases the original works of area artists whose techniques include watercolor, oil, acrylic, pencil, pen and ink, pastel, collage, mixed media, sculpture, ceramics, fine arts textiles, assemblage, printmaking, pottery, and photography.

Some of the artwork is for sale, with a portion of the proceeds supporting the MAC.

“Abstracts in this area, especially in Sequim, have not been covered a lot and yet there are a lot of artists here who do abstracts,” MAC art exhibit committee chairman Linda Stadtmiller said of the exhibit. “We’re reaching out to a different audience.”

The exhibit runs through Nov. 26 at the MAC Exhibit Center, open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.
