The Sequim Humanities and Arts Alliance and the Museum & Arts Center in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley invite artists of all ages to a free workshop to make artist trading cards.
Led by local artists Renne Brock-Richmond and Jean Wyatt, the free workshop is from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at the MAC Exhibit Center, 175 W. Cedar St., Sequim. Attendees may use the art supplies provided or bring their own and light refreshments will be provided.
Artist trading cards are small works of original art sized 2½ by 3½ inches that are viewable on both sides and created and traded as a way to appreciate other artists’ talents.
“It’s a great chance to experiment with different media to make artist trading cards and make friends,” Brock-Richmond said of the workshop. “The nice thing about artist trading cards is the common size allows for uncommon creativity from those of all ages.”
The event is being held in conjunction with “Small Art with Big Dreams – Artist Trading Cards,” a progressive exhibit currently on display at the MAC Exhibit Center and sponsored by the Sequim Humanities and Arts Alliance.
A second round of exhibit entries will be accepted noon-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at the MAC Exhibit Center and celebrated with an artist trading card party during the First Friday Art Walk Sequim in September. Visit www.SequimArtsAlliance.org for entry details.
