After being contacted by co-captain John Anzalotti of Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) No. 4 about building-out an Emergency Preparedness Conex that Clallam County Fire District 3 placed in their Carlsborg yard, the Sequim Elks Lodge No. 2642 saw an opportunity to give back to the community.
Anzalotti and his team estimated the cost to properly build-out the Conex to be about $1,000; Elks members voted to help fund the project.
“The $1,000 donation will help to ensure our local community has access to emergency supplies in the event of a natural disaster in the area,” Elks representatives said.
Anzalotti said the structure — one that looks like the large metal containers seen on barges for overseas shipping — will be outfitted with shelves and other materials so that CERT teams in the region have a place to get tools, medical supplies and otehr resources during emergencies.
