The Sequim Dungeness Hospital Guild continued its long-running support of Clallam County Fire District 3 with a $17,000 donation to the district last week.
Funds will be used to buy doses of TNKase, a clot-dissolving drug for heart attacks. One dose of this medication costs $7,500; however, if the medication is given at the right time by a paramedic it can make the difference between life and death, fire district officials said.
Additionally, $2,000 of the donation will be used to purchase an automated external defibrillator (AED) for the Sequim Dungeness Hospital Guild’s thrift store at 204 W. Bell St.
Thirty-one guild representatives were on hand to present the fire district with the donation on Dec. 6, with medical safety officer Capt. Kolby Konopaski and interim chief Dan Orr accepting the check and thanking the guild their efforts over the years and for their continued generosity.
“For 54 years, the Sequim Dungeness Hospital Guild has supported Clallam County Fire District 3,” fire district representatives noted in a press release. “The financial support the guild has provided over the years has saved countless lives and made a meaningful impact on the community. This would not have been possible without the selfless dedication of the guild’s volunteers.
“The community and the District will forever be in their gratitude for all that they have given to this community and continue to give.”
